“A bag is something that always accompanies us. An extension of ourselves that holds and protects our most important and coveted possessions”

IACOBELLA combines the classical skills and materials of fine leather working in Florence with a design approach inspired by the ingenuity of ancient craft traditions from around the world. Led by founder and Creative Director, Iacobella Gaetani, our bags are designed and handmade to be useful and playful, hard-wearing and beautiful.

All our bags are handmade and hand-stitched with care and pride by expert leather makers in our workshop in Florence. Our experienced makers belong to a Florentine leather-working tradition that is many centuries old but becoming rarer and rarer. By continuing to make our bags by hand we’re ensuring the longevity of the bags themselves and preserving the skills required to make them.

Each bag is individually ornamented with a gemstone that doubles as a clasp. The stones are all unique, each selected and hand cut by gemmologist and master-cutter Leonardo Arcadi. Arcadi sources the quartz, sandstone, amethyst, fluorite, and corundum stones personally from small family-owned mines in Brazil where labour conditions and wages meet the extremely high standards we insist upon with all our suppliers.

We believe strongly in our responsibility to protect the natural environment. For every online sale we plant a tree in Guatemala. Visit zeroC02 to see how it works.

HANDMADE IN ITALY

IACOBELLA’s bags are handmade and hand-stitched in a small factory near Florence, Italy, where experienced leather artisans work with passion and highly specialized talent since decades.

Throughout the years, they have generated a level of expertise that they transmit to each of IACOBELLA’s creations.

The signature element of the bags is the selection of stones, which is done by the designer herself. Carefully collecting one crystal at a time, especially during her travels around the world.

With the support of a true mineral craftsman, each stone is polished and drilled to perfection, where they are used together with leather braids, as an enclosure for the bags.
